TP Aquatic Constructions was pleased to team up with Splashtacular and Australia Zoo to deliver the exciting new water park now open at the zoo.
Providing the technical expertise, inground water features, hydraulic works, filtration and chemical control, TP Aquatic constructions was able to work with the talented creative department at Australia Zoo to make this wonderful and unique water park come to life.
TP Aquatic Constructions can also bring your next project to life. Our decades of experience in water parks and aquatic facilities makes us the ideal company to help make your next project as big a success as the Australia Zoo waterpark is.
The water slide park itself was constructed as an exciting and diverse range of 13 colourful waterslides fully designed to take the resort to a whole new level. Purpose built and directed to young families, the slides come off a two-metre-high platform and are linked by bridges and stairways.
The area of the Waterslide Park is equivalent to an Olympic swimming pool and features vibrant slides in a rainbow of red, blue, yellow, orange and green colours. A massive tipping bucket sits at one end of the pool and there are fun smaller features for toddlers in the shape of a frog and octopus. Water disinfection to be via a salt water chlorination cell and pH control will be via acid dosing using prominent fluid compact control unit or equivalent.
Plant room was of a masonry block construction with trusses and metal roof. We undertook an excavation for slide pad and feature pool to 300mm deep.
The project brief was to design and construct a new swimming pool and plant room with new amenities block and to ensure all services would meet the requirements of the new facilities.
The amenities block consists of male and female toilets/showers and change rooms with a separate PWD room. A small kiosk area was also included in the design. New fencing was installed to enclose and secure the facility. Tiled floors and walls to the ablution areas with vinyl flooring to the kiosk.
The amenities building was constructed using rendered concrete block external walls with feature colourbond cladding. A skillion roof structure covered the building and covered entry way and verandah. The internal finishes of the building allowed for minimal maintenance with exposed block internal walls, modular toilet/shower partitioning with joinery vanity units and cabinetry to kiosk.
The plant room was a custom-built structure using solar panel walls and roof structure on a concrete slab.
The 25m concrete pool was fully tiled and included a disable ramp access with stainless steel handrail. Four racing lanes were marked using contrasting tiles. The filtration system is fully automated, and all staff were trained in the use of the system.
The pool area is lit by light poles surrounding the pool. All landscaping and pathways were included in the project.
Featuring 1 large L shape pool along with a lap pool to 25m x 8 lanes with starting blocks and lane markings to Fina Standard. We also incorporated a learn to swim area with sloping access for the disabled.
We then designed a wading and splash pad with water features for the kids. An added feature to the filtration system is that chlorine levels are maintained via a granular chlorine feeder that provides a safe and effective method of chlorine control while pH levels are managed via an acid dosing system all controlled by state of the art electronic chemical control equipment.
A Solar heating system provides temperature-controlled water to the toddler pool and splash pad ensuring year-round enjoyment by the community.
This project also involved the refurbishment of three existing buildings along with the construction of a new Kiosk, offices and outdoor eating area for the community.
Developed in 2009 as an initiative of the Local City Council this massive project has been designed, right from the planning stages as a complete leisure, lifestyle and waterslide centre to meet the needs of the city's growing Northern corridor. Everything constructed as part of this project has been built by TP Aquatic Constructions.
Other aspects of this project and integral to the successful operation of this Leisure Centre included an entrance statement, reception area, retail counter, dressing area, toilet and shower buildings and a plant and equipment area. Working to a strict budget the entire project was completed to the full satisfaction of all parties.
With the waterslide component we were required to build facilities suitable to accommodate these slides and bring them online within their framework thereby providing the first major waterslide in the Townsville area.
The construction challenges involved construction of a mound and splash zone with balance tanks, pumps and filtration along with landscaping, retaining walls, fencing, stairs and handrails.
The final product is a credit to the team and will be enjoyed by all for many years to come.
Our team demolished the existing facility. Once this was achieved the areas were reshaped and refilled involving importing fill, compacting, civil works, soil testing and site inspection. A unique, full spanning single sheet system comprised the roof construction, coated with a special insulating and rust proofing product. The completed facility was able to be fully heated to a constant 24 degrees with the added feature of roll up blinds to one side of the building allowing opening for the summer months making Nanango a suitable all-season facility.
The 25m pool was heated to 27 deg and the Hydrotherapy pool to 34 deg via an efficient and effective heat pump unit. Each pool had a separate filtration system and chemical control equipment with the water features in the wading pool controlled by a separate feature pump allowing for individual control.
The buildings consisted of a full amenity including toilets and showers with the showers heated by cost efficient and water saving heat pump units.
A specialist's physio room was also constructed for the Hydrotherapy pool. Our award winning disabled facilities which include ramps, lifts and toilets have also been included. To make the facility complete a kiosk and manager's office and kitchen were constructed at the entrance.
Also undertaken for this project were major storm water works, electrical upgrades and connection plus all landscaping including some footpath reconstruction.
Our team at TP Aquatic Constructions have excelled in recreating this site to a superb facility.
